Govinda's Nidra - Monday 4th July

Yoga Nidra:
Yogic Conscious Deep Sleep

Yoga Nidra brings an incredible calmness, quietness and clarity. Yoga Nidra is one of the deepest of all meditations, leading awareness through many levels of mental process to a state of supreme stillness and insight. The descriptions in the article below can be difficult to understand. With patient and thorough reading, the understanding is well worth the effort, allowing you to see the profound depth of Yoga Nidra, which is far beyond just relaxation. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes it takes thousands of words to get the inner "aha" of the meaning. Most important of all, it is the persistent practice that brings the real joy of the practice of Yoga Nidra, as with all useful practices in life and Yoga.

Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep. It is a state of conscious Deep Sleep. In Meditation, you remain in the Waking state of consciousness, and gently focus the mind, while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on. However, in Yoga Nidra, you leave the Waking state, go past the Dreaming state, and go to Deep Sleep, yet remain awake. While Yoga Nidra is a state that is very relaxing, it is also used by Yogis to purify the Samskaras, the deep impressions that are the driving force behind Karma.

Yoga Nidra has been known for thousands of years by the sages and yogis. Of the three states of consciousness of Waking, Dreaming and Deep Sleep, as expounded in the Upanishads, particularly the Mandukya Upanishad, Yoga Nidra refers to the conscious awareness of the Deep Sleep state, referred to as prajna in Mandukya Upanishad. This is the third of the four levels of consciousness of AUM mantra, relating to the state represented by the M of AUM. The four states are Waking, Dreaming, sleep, and turiya, the fourth state. The state of Yoga Nidra, conscious Deep Sleep, is beyond or subtler than the imagery and mental process of the Waking and Dreaming states. As a state of conscious Deep Sleep, Yoga Nidra is a universal principle, and is not the exclusive domain of any more recent teachers or traditions.

Overcoming Candida

Today I discovered my fatigued body was plagued with an army of alien yeast creatures playing havoc with my ecosystem. These buggers were causing acne, brian fog, moodiness even depression in some people. My bad bacteria had colonised and are having an endless rave in my weak gut and feeding off all the sugar since birth! For those who are unaware of Candida, it is an imbalance of yeast or bad bacteria in our bodies and it thrives off all sugary delights!!! If you suffer from adult acne, rosacea, chronic fatigue syndrome, thrush, tinea, sluggish digestive system, IBS, cold feet & hands, weight gain, is an alcoholic, loves sweets, have carb cravings...it is possible you have it too!

After seeing my naturopath, we both went on the strictest of diets to starve out the yeast. Boy it was extremely tough......for 2months we cried, broke down, had major withdrawals, experienced intense headaches. Our solace was stevia, pumpkin drank lots off distilled water, herbal teas, almond meld, nuts, quinoa, buckwheat eggs, super greens eg, broccoli, lettuce, spinach and anti-fungal herbs.

Foods to Avoid
Aged cheeses, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, fresh fruits, fermented foods, mushrooms, vinegar, glutenous foods (wheat, rye, barley), all sugars, honeys and syrups (that includes any ‘ose’, like lactose, sucrose etc), and foods that contain yeast or mould (breads, muffins, cakes, baked goods, cheese, dried fruits, melons, peanuts – although nutritional and brewer’s yeasts are not harmful, as they do not colonize in the intestines).

Foods to Eat
Vegetables (including plenty of raw garlic), protein foods (beef, chicken, eggs, fish), live yogurt cultures (both dairy and non-dairy,) FOS*, whey, acidophilus, green algae (such as spirulina and chlorella), nuts, seeds and oils, and non-glutenous grains (like millet, rice, rice bran and oat bran).

This month not much to write  my inspiration has all come from hibernating and healing my body with rest & wholesome foods in the first week the weight just fell off me! My skin was glowing and miraculously my brain fog lifted....I also passed the spittle test. The perseverance paid off!

Yoga Inspiration!

An object is perceived, or not perceived, according as the mind is, or is not, tinged with the colour of the object.

We must seek spiritual life in conformity with the laws of spiritual life, with earnestness, humility, gentle charity, which is an acknowledgment of the One Soul within us all. Only through obedience to that shared Life, through perpetual remembrance of our oneness with all Divine Being, our nothingness apart from Divine Being, can we enter our inheritance.
The deeper truth is, that he who in every least thing is wholly honest with the spirit of Life, finds Life supporting him in all things, and gains admittance to the treasure house of Life, the spiritual universe.

Unity is the reality; separateness the illusion. The nearer we come to reality, the nearer we come to unity of heart. Sympathy, compassion, kindness are modes of this unity of heart, whereby we rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

by Charles Johnston
The world, with all its beauty, its happiness and suffering, its joys and pains, is planned with the utmost ingenuity, in order that the powers of the Self may be shown forth in manifestation.

Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame.

Yes I am wise, but it's wisdom born of pain
Yes I paid the price, but look how much I've gained
If I have to, I can do anything
...I am strong
I am invincible
I am WOMAN ...

When a woman rises up in glory, her energy is magnetic and her sense of possibility contagious

Sex shrinks you, Tantra expands you!

Sex shrinks you, Tantra expands you:

The word ‘tantra’ means the capacity of expansion, that which goes expanding. Sex shrinks you, Tantra expands you. It is the same energy, but it takes a turn. It is no longer selfish, no longer self-centered. It starts spreading – it starts spreading to the whole existence. In sex, for a moment you can attain to the orgasm, and at a great cost. In Tantra you can live in the orgasm twenty-four hours a day, because your very energy becomes orgasmic. And your meeting is no longer with any individual person: your meeting is with the universe itself. You see a tree, you see a flower, you see a star, and there is something like orgasm happening.

and DEEPER:
another excerpt from The Ultimate Experience.

The experience of the ultimate is not an experience at all -- because the experiencer is lost. And when there is no experiencer, what can be said about it? Who will say it? Who will relate the experience? When there is no subject, the object also disappears -- the banks disappear, only the river of experience remains. Knowledge is there, but the knower is not.

That has been the problem for all the mystics. They reach to the ultimate, but they cannot relate it to those who are following. They cannot relate it to others who would like to have an intellectual understanding. They have become one with it. Their whole being relates it, but no intellectual communication is possible. They can give it to you if you are ready to receive; they can allow it to happen in you if you also allow it, if you are receptive and open. But words won't do, symbols won't help; theories and doctrines are of no use at all.

The experience is such that it is more like an experiencing than like an experience. It is a process -- and it begins, but it never ends. You enter into it, but you never possess it. It is like a drop dropping in the ocean, or, the ocean itself dropping into the drop. It is a deep merger, it is oneness, you simply melt away into it. Nothing is left behind, not even a trace, so who will communicate? Who will come back to the world of the valley? Who will come back to this dark night to tell you?

POETIC JUSTICE!

I'm floatin in a boat,in the middle of the sea,
and I've got my trusty fishing rod with me.
I'm trolling for love, sweet, soft and demure,so I cast our my line,
and my heart is the lure.
Come on  precious Pirate, come hither sweet man,
hop into my boat, and lets give it a whirl, with our wing tips igniting, and our eyes brightly glowing, deep
passion    pulsating, sweet  liquid   love  forever flowing, I love how the sea lets me be...
